fireworks

guess what. i'm done with my thesis.

:) not done, done. as in. not 100 percent. there's still the final editing, adding the biblio (which will be a bitch - tiring mindless exercise. i hope i've kept a good enough record of all my sources), doing the formatting, oh and yea i should write an abstract probably.

but i'm done. i consider myself done.

there's no longer the headache of "gosh am i going down the right path..."
no longer the questioning of my arguments...
no longer that frustrating, incredibly tiring feeling of wondering what the hell am i doing wrong/where should i go/what should i do..

from now on, things will be pretty easy.

whew. somehow - there wasn't really that feeling of elation i thought i'd have....it was more of a feeling of emptiness. relief, perhaps? :) maybe the real elation will come when i finally hand in the paper.

and as a result, i went to watch fireworks. :) tokyo has tons of fireworks displays every summer and a friend organized a trip to watch one today, supposedly above the sumida river in tokyo; however, there were too many people so we didn't even attempt to watch it by the river. instead, we sat in the middle of the road (closed off to vehicles) and watched the fireworks exploding into the sky - the entire display went on for an entire hour (!!). it was a pretty silent affair - i was glad to just sit down and enjoy the extravagant, excessive, and yet somehow still very magical display, with friends. friends whom i might not see again for a long long time.

here's one of the videos i took: enjoy!
